Hey there! Hope the first month of 2017 has been a great start for you. It has been a really good start for me and I am very excited for the coming months. Last weekend, I got the chance to collaborate with my dear friend, Karen and it was so much fun! Fun is an understatement. Karen not only exuberates confidence in what she wears but is also extremely talented! It was a pleasure collaborating with her and I hope to do many more in the future. 🙂 We have put together two casual urban looks for this piece which represents urban in our own colour.

Look 1: A pair of jeans, shirt and platform oxford shoes

Styling oneself in a minimalist way is an art in itself. Here we have tried to add a bit of edginess by wearing Oxfords.

Look 2: A leather skirt, shirt and black & gold heels

A leather skirt is also a minimalist way to make a simple shirt look stylish. For this one, we have paired it with a blue shirt which I borrowed from my dad’s closet along with black & gold heels. The gold in the heels adds a whole new level sophistication to this look.

The urban woman today, we believe, is someone who is always on the run, yet she never forgets to look flawless. She not only has an impeccable taste in fashion but also let’s her personality shine through the fabrics. She is confident, independent and believes in her dreams. She has immense admiration for all the women who cross her path and uplifts them in every possible way. She also shares an unspoken bond of sisterhood with them. She is a free spirit who no more conquers the world only in a pair of heels, but also in a pair of oxfords!

Enjoy the look:

There are endless possibilities. Explore everyday and discover something new about yourself. Let your imagination run wild. Have an open mind and don’t ever limit yourself. It is okay to feel a little intimidated by the vast possibilities and uncertainties. Take risks. You will try. You will fail. You will learn. You will grow. Nothing is meant to be perfect. Let your hair down and be a little messy. Just don’t ever get caught up in the mess: the past experiences. They exist to take you a step further in your exploration. When you encounter moments that make you smile, stand still and embrace them. Break the mundanity. Try something totally different, something you’d only imagine in your wildest dreams. You might think you are bounded but you aren’t. Change your perspective. Intoxicate yourself and the world around you with kindness and compassion. Hold your head high. Believe in yourself. Live.

Hey there! I really hope you enjoyed this and have had an amazing day so far. Floral dresses are a must-have as you can easily dress them up or just wear them if you want to create a minimalist look. The cut outs add a flirty element to this dress. Here, I have paired up the dress with pink flats as there is a bit of pink in the floral print. This is a good way to style prints and pop of colours. Choose a colour from the print and use it to accessorise the outfit. Anklets and body jewellery will be a trend in 2017, so I recommend to invest in a few. You can always use the necklace chain as an anklet as that’s what I did for this look. I have also used a dainty necklace and a bracelet to accessorise along with a statement ring.

A huge thank you to my mum for capturing these photos. Let me know in the comments section below if you would like me to do more of these. I definitely enjoyed curating this post as it made me think outside the box. I really want this space to exemplify endless creative possibilities. I am also a firm believer in spreading good vibes and positivity. So, I sincerely wish that you let your imagination to run wild and explore everyday. 🙂

Hey there! What have you been up to? I have been working on two tasks since the past week: a) got a shoot done on Sunday for the next post. It is a summer look and b) researching on topics to finalise one for my research project next semester. I will mostly be editing the summer look photos this week. Although, I am still unsure about the photos. Let’s see how the editing goes. I haven’t started on the 33 books list yet but I have been reading To Kill A Mockingbird. Have you ever had a book which you start reading but for some reason stop at a certain page? That has been my experience with To Kill A Mockingbird. I have never read past chapter 3 in my last two attempts. I have finally moved ahead of chapter 3 and will be completing the book soon. It is one of the most beautiful books I have ever read and definitely recommend it!

If you are following me on Instagram, then you would have read that Lincraft had a 50% sale right at the end of December 2016. So, I bought quite a few things and used it for this DIY. I have made these 6 chokers just under 20 dollars.

You’ll need:final-list

You will also need Fabric glue, which I forgot to mention in the photo above. Wrap the fabrics around the neck to measure the required length.

     Choker 1: Bohemian                  Cost: $4.15finalchoker-1-materials

Choker 2: Lace                  Cost: $2.15finalchoker-2-materials

Choker 3: Denim                 Cost: $7.31finalchoker-3-materials

Choker 4: Mesh               Cost: $4.38finalchoker-4-materials

Choker 5: Self-tie               Cost: Nil

These two pieces of fabric will be used to make the next two chokers. One piece is used for this and the other one for choker 6: gold chain.

Choker 6: Gold Chain                Cost: 50 cents

These 6 new chokers are all ready to be styled! 🙂 finaldscf2070

Peek-a-boo Mesh Top

Hey there!

2016 will be over in just few hours! This year has been a great ride for me. A lot has happened and a lot has changed. I have learnt quite a bit about myself, celebrated my parent’s 25th anniversary and Dad’s 50th birthday. I also took a trip with my best friend which was full of adventures. A trip with the best friend can never be boring! We checked Skydiving off our list. I really hope 2016 was an amazing ride for you too and you also had a chance to tick things off your list. If not, then 2017 is just around the corner. 🙂  I am looking forward to 2017 as I will be completing another milestone by finishing Masters and also have heaps of ideas that I would want to try out as well as tick places off my travel list. Let’s welcome 2017 together with a bang!

Moving on, I wanted to share with you the peek-a-boo mesh top which was inspired from Golden Poise DIY mesh t-shirt (picture below).

You’ll need:

I bought the t-shirt from a sale for $1 and the black mesh with white spots is from Spotlight for $5. You don’t need to stick to the same colour mesh as the t-shirt. Try adding a pop of colour to your top with a different coloured mesh. My second option for the mesh was an olive-green colour!

  1. Wear the t-shirt and use a chalk to mark the area where you would like to add the mesh. I have also gone ahead to mark the neck as I wanted to change the neckline and the sleeves area.  mesh-and-stitch
  2. Using a pair of scissors, cut along the marked lines. The mesh will be added to the waistline area. This can be done by either using fabric glue or needle and thread. I used fabric glue to attach the mesh first but as I wore the top after two days, the mesh started to come off. Hence, I would recommend using needle and thread. Stitch the neck and sleeves if you made any adjustments to them. final20161220_200346
  3. Finally, use fabric paint to personalise the top. I chose the number ‘79’ as it is a special one for me. You can go crazy with the paint! Let the paint dry for 48 hours and then iron the top inside out. Never directly use heat on the painted area. DSCF1928.JPGThere you go, you have a peek-a-boo mesh top for yourself for just under $10! Do not forget to tag me (@aditisawarkar) in your Instagram post if you try this out or any DIY tops from an old t-shirt. Let the creativity flow. I would love to see it. 🙂

Happy New Year! 🙂

The Style Mashup

Hey there!

Merry Christmas…I hope 2016 has treated you well so far and your Christmas day is filled with full of surprises and some great cherishable moments with your loved ones. Can’t believe this year is almost over!

This is my first blog post. I had been thinking of giving blogging a try for the past few years and I am so excited to finally start this journey!

I have tried to put together a subtle mix of gothic and rocker style, which can be carried off by anyone as there is no right or wrong way when it comes to wearing a certain style. It is all about celebrating one’s uniqueness in every style and to never stop experimenting.

Well, this is my version. I am wearing an all black outfit from head to toe. The leggings and top are from my DIY project. I consider a good pair of ripped leggings/jeans as an essential as it can add a whole new dimension to your look. You can wear them on a day when you don’t feel like putting an effort or are running late. Just make sure that it is the right size and fits your body perfectly.

Instead of using a basic black crew neck tee, I thought of giving peek-a-boo top a go. In this top, there is a gorgeous black mesh with barely visible tiny white dots around the waist. If you are not comfortable to show too much skin but still want to experiment, this is a great way to do it. The peek-a-boo mesh doesn’t necessarily have to be around the waist, you can choose a top with mesh around the neckline, arm or even on the back! I love how the simple white detailing in the mesh compliments the ‘79’ print on the top.

To complete the look, I chose a pair of black combat boots with heels. These shoes are my baby. It’s been almost a year since I have had them and I literally wore them every other day during winter. For the accessories, I have used a bohemian black choker necklace with silver beads and pendant in the centre along with bohemian silver rings with intricate carvings and bracelets. Oh, and the octagonal sunglasses are from the Kmart festival collection for only 6 bucks!

Let me know in the comments section below about the accessories you are totally obsessed with and tag me (@aditisawarkar) in your instagram posts if you experiment with this look or even experiment with a style totally different to yours. I would love to see how you add your individuality to it. 🙂

Until then, enjoy the look and Merry Christmas once again:Aditi-135.jpgAditi-102.jpgAditi-80.jpgAditi-130.jpgAditi-72.jpgAditi-150.jpgAditi-83.jpgAditi-126.jpgAditi-90.jpg                                                                              Location: The University of Melbourne, Parkville
